Reaction Time Experiment

Description: This Psych Labs Project uses the experiment method. Students participate in an online reaction-time experiment with 4 parts (4 conditions). Two of the conditions test "simple" reaction time--responding with the designated hand as soon as a yellow light appears, using the left hand for every trial in one condition and the right hand for every trial in the other condition. The other two conditions test "choice" reaction time--responding with one hand when red light appears and the other hand if a green light appears. In one of those conditions, the designated hand for each color light is on the same side as that light, while in the other condition, the designated hand is on the opposite side from that light. The conditions will be presented in random order. There will be 12 trials in each condition. The first 2 trials in each condition serve as practice trials; performance on the the last 10 trials is recorded and averaged to provide a mean score for each of the 4 conditions.
